Meet Business Intermediary
Terry Altman, P.A.
Lending experience and insight from both sides of the table (as both seller and buyer), Terry Altman contributes a unique perspective to the business buying and selling process. His personal experience and continuing education provide every client he works with valuable insight not typical of other business brokers.
As a business buyer, Altman gleaned valuable insight into cash flow and other important considerations. As a seller of his own business, he understands the triumphs and challenges of operating a successful organization.
This first-hand knowledge provides a major advantage to all parties involved in the process, and has afforded Altman with a wealth of skills and expertise in the field, including:
- working capital requirements
- financial statements
- balance sheets
- P&L statements
- cash flow statements
- financial software, including QuickBooks
- general business operations
- and more
In addition to this personal expertise, Altman has acquired hundreds of hours of focused education on the business selling and buying procedures.
Background and Experience
Terry Altman’s diverse career experience allows him to furnish clients with unique insight and fresh perspectives on the business selling and buying process.
Altman cites his time as business owner as “the greatest learning experience of my entire working career.”
He used the last of his cash reserves to purchase a business of which he admittedly had little knowledge. In just six years, top-line sales doubled and profitability tripled — all with the same small workforce of 13 loyal and dedicated employees.
Altman’s experience as both business buyer and seller helped him gain appreciation to the importance of a qualified business intermediary. He says this role is integral in the buy/sell process.
“Having a good intermediary on your side will save you money. Not having one could be your worst nightmare… and possibly a very expensive nightmare.”
Altman earned the certified business intermediary (CBI) credential in 2015. CBI is the standard established by the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA).
Varied Career Interests
In addition to these ventures, Altman has also seen success as an electrical engineer. For 13 years, he held various positions in this concentration, including:
- site foreman
- project manager
Altman also contributed his talents to the medical equipment sales industry for 17 years. In that concentration, he held various tiles, including:
- territory manager
- luminary accounts manager
- regional manager
His multi-million dollar purchase orders were the result of hard work and dedication, as well as a strong focus on continuing education and the ability to manage the committee-decision sales process.
A consistent award winner, Altman left a position with GE Medical Sales to purchase a small manufacturing business.
